About the Centre
• Centre of Excellence in Product Design & Smart Manufacturing (CPDSM) was established in the year 2021 at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal to offer a unique platform for collaboration of advanced technologies in the area of product design and smart manufacturing.
• The centre takes initiative in innovative and top-quality education & research focused to cater to industry needs on Design and Automation, Subtractive manufacturing, Advanced welding techniques, Additive manufacturing, Digital Manufacturing, Robotics, Mechatronics, and Specialty materials.
• This centre designs and development of products with concern on social, physical and ecological environments and provides opportunities to the students to take real time projects for their master’s and Ph.D. programs.
• The centre offers an M.Tech program in “Smart Manufacturing” from the year 2021 to facilitate the culture of innovation and open engineering.
In addition to the M.Tech course in “Smart Manufacturing, the centre covers the following activities—
1. Multi-disciplinary research for addressing vital issues related to the product design and manufacturing with a special focus on Central India.
2. Collaborative research to provide consultancy and technical support to different departments, organizations, and industry for their product design and manufacturing-related studies and activities.
3. Organises regular activities of state of art knowledge sharing such as, conferences, workshops, symposia, invited lectures, and skill development training programs.

• To provide facilities to talented students and research scholars for pursuing research in the vibrant areas of the smart manufacturing.
• To encourage students to participate in collaborative industrial projects to provide solutions for real time problems.
• To develop a centre for innovative product design and speedy development of products to cater the needs of research organizations and industry in Central India.
